CI workshop: A SHARED SPACE

This Contact Improvisation Workshop proposes an experimental space to research our physical presence, the interactions between us, and let an open question into the metaphysical. It aims to dive into the possibilities of the artistic creation in a collective movement research, opening space for exploring the state of our attention as the basic mechanism with which we enter in contact with the world.

The workshop also opens space for experimenting with the performative potential of CI, that goes back to its very origins, approaching the performance practice simply as a process of being present and being witnessed.

How to be present?

How to share presence?

How our presence influence our surrounding?

How the surrounding influences ourselves?

How do we shape this reality together?

And how this reality touches who ever witness it?

This workshop is offered to investigate the questions that are proposed and to find together new directions of research in CI, nurturing the process with ideas and practices coming from other fields, like Physical Theater, Mindfulness, TaiChi, Somatics, and Improvisation at large, meeting inner and outer Nature as our primal source of learning.

The proposal is to explore the conscious attention of our mental and physical body, not just when we are in contact, but also in relation with the empty spacetime that hold us together, the essential net that allow us to meet and create structures, relations, movements, dances, actions, and sounds.

To inquire together the relation between the matter and the emptiness, within and around.

To experiment with Dance, Composition, and Improvisation, supported by Silence, Music, Poetry, and Nature, integrating our movement research with our state of presence, and our ability and necessity to relate with others in A Shared Space.
